Marvelette Missives – Jessica Jones: Avenger

Marvelette Missives – Jessica Jones: Avenger

It’s been almost a year since we last talked about Jessica Jones. In that post, we looked at the then-new comic book series Jessica Jones (which is still going strong and has some fantastic writing and artwork). But if you’re reading that series or have watched the Netflix shows she’s on, you may be wondering about Jessica’s early days as a hero and her connection to the Avengers. The collection Jessica Jones: Avenger is the book you need.  More

Marvelette Missives – Lockjaw

Even if you don’t know much about the Inhumans, one member you are likely already familiar with is Lockjaw. You may not know him by name or what his status or powers are, but if nothing else, you know he’s the giant dog. If that’s the case or if you want a refresher on the best dog in the Marvel universe, the Lockjaw: Dog Days collection is what you need.  More

Marvelette Missives – Clue

Marvelette Missives – Clue

Was it Professor Plum in the library with the wrench? Or maybe it was Miss Scarlet in the ballroom with the candlestick. Yes, we all recall the characters and scenarios of the classic “who dunnit” board game Clue. And now, continuing a partnership that brought comic book versions of Transformers and My Little Pony, IDW is working with Hasbro to bring the mystery to life once more with a Clue comic book series.  More

Marvelette Missives – Daughters of the Dragon

In the late 70s, a couple of supporting characters from Iron Fist comics, Misty Knight and Colleen Wing, were given a chance to team up as Daughters of the Dragon in an issue of Marvel Team-Up. Though well received, the duo remained supporting characters, carrying over to the Power Man and Iron Fist series. They didn’t manage to get their own story lines (in Marvel Comics Presents) until the 1990s and their own title didn’t come out until 2006.  More

When DC decided to do a reboot of their universe with Rebirth, changes were made across the board. One of the interesting twists was the new version of the Justice League of America. We Be Geeks 234: Becoming Hero With Jen Finelli

We Be Geeks 234: Becoming Hero With Jen Finelli

This episode, we welcome guest Jen Finneli to the show, author of the book Becoming Hero. Jen starts the episode discussing her book, a story about a comic book character that tries to kill his creator, and the details of how she came up with the story. As the interview continues, Jen manages to turn the tables on by asking us questions about podcasting and other topics, occasionally turning the interviewers into the interviewees. A great interview that was a lot of fun for all of us.
