Star Wars 1313 news from Celebration VI

[singlepic id=29 w=150 h=150 float=left]I am so EXCITED about this game. Star Wars 1313, a collaboration between LucasArts, Lucas Animation, ILM and Skywalker Sound. The panel was made of host David Collins, director Dominic Robilliard and producer Peter Nicholi. The game takes place in the underworld of Coruscant. 1313 is how many levels from the Planet’s core. This will be a blaster/gadgets game. NO LIGHTSABERS. Seeing the actual demo played was breathtaking. It was like watching Final Fantasy or Avatar, damn near close to real.

After the Demo, a short documentary about the game was shown.

Gameplay. One Joystick controls movement, the other camera control. The detail, AMAZING. When Robilliard paused the game he zoomed in on a character that was flying through space and the detail was outstanding with no loss. The game engine is based on the unreal 3 engine but with their modifications.

Some other notes:

– The game is set between Episodes III and IV.
– Level 1313 refers to the distance from the center of the planet. For a time it was the surface before being built over.
– When asked if any familiar characters are in the game, Dominic and Nicholi didn’t want to say quite yet. The game is still so early in development that they want to save some of the reveals as the development progresses. The characters in the clips are place holder characters until you get deeper in the game.
– As for controls, one joystick controls your movement while the other controls the camera angle.
– There’s definitely a bit of adult language in the game.
