We Be Geeks 213: More Than Meets The Eye, My …

We start the show out with the geek weather report, and move into talking about SNL skits. Up next we go into Sony and Marvel fighting over the rights on Spider-Man after the sequel to Homecoming. Will Sony get the rights back? Will Marvel and Sony make nice and make another deal? We talk Joss Whedon writing, directing and producing, a Batgirl movie. We also do an impromptu casting call for Babs. We then move to Star Wars news, with an Obi-Wan standalone movie. Would you watch an Ahsoka animated film? We sure would. We debut a new segment with Derrick where he goes off on Michael Bay and his new 14 Transformer movies. We move into the release date of The Defenders. 8-18-2017. We also talk about Disney coming out with a Tron Lightcycle attraction coming to the parks. We also talk more Disney and its battles with other parks. We talk new Thrawn books coming out from Timothy Zahn after his appearance in Star Wars: Rebels. We end the night talking gaming news, with Marvel Heroes coming to the gaming consoles off of PC.

We Be Geeks 188: Profiles In Geekdom

This week on We Be Geeks: There is currently a petition on Change.Org to have Shia LaBeouf to play The Red Hood in the DC extended Universe.  So far there are over 400 signatures for this. We have a hard time wrapping our collective thoughts around this as we are not really the biggest fans. I guess we will see what happens with this petition. Flash may be returning a character to the show. Patty Spivot may be returning for the third season. although it id not totally confirmed yet, it is a possibility. Speaking of TV shows, Gotham is also on our  radar. They supposedly are aging Poison Ivy to make it easier for them to make her more of a seductress. Not entirely sure that they needed to do this to the show, but we will see how it plays out. Profiles in History is having a Hunger Games auction part 2. There are many auction highlights, including:  Katniss Everdeen Victory Tour ensemble, combat wetsuits, Peeta interview suit, and much much more. The auction is available to anyone worldwide. The team finishes up with some Star Wars trivia cards. It’s fun to do these and even better to have the whole team together again to talk all of this geeky goodness.

We Be Geeks 183: Time To Make The Donuts Kevin

We open the show talking about Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar, coming back in an animated film Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. Which leads to Jared Leto being disenfranchised with his role in the Suicide Squad. This leads us into an open letter from a former Warner Brothers employee that was also disenfranchised with Warner Brothers (time to make the donuts Kevin). This kicks us off into the Clue movie reboot. Which leads us into a discussion of movies worse than the Transformers movies. We talk Marvel Comic’s Runaways coming as a live action to a series to Hulu. We also give you the lowdown on all of the comic properties coming to TV coming up in the next couple years. We talk about a new type of cantina called Scum and Villainy Cantina. This may be the bar you are looking for. Want to see if you can deflect lightsaber beams? You will be able to do it in the Disney parks with laser deflecting lightsabers. We also talk the end of the Invincible series.

Now Geek This! The Return…

At last, I have returned!  What had originally intended to be a short holiday break turned out to be an extended hiatus due to, well, reasons.  I’m sure in that time, many might have forgotten me, but I am back in full force and ready to spread my geek love once again.  Some of you may have been listening to me on the We Be Geeks podcast in the interim, so you know that I have at least been alive and well during my writing hiatus.  Enough of that though, let us move on to the nitty-gritty meat of my latest article, shall we?

I think I shall begin with a quick recap of the gems I missed discussing over the past couple of months or so. More

WBG Episode 152: Our Star Wars Awakening

This week on We Be Geeks: It’s the first episode of 2016! No guest this week, but there was plenty to talk about. Star Wars was on our brains and hearts this week, as it should be. Speculations as to some unanswered questions were had, as well as why is Rey missing from some of the top selling toys? Considering she is one of the main characters, we discuss why we think she definitely needs more merchandise. Is Netflix trying to pull one over on us? According to them, we should be seeing a Dredd show coming out, wait for it…on April 1st 2016. Why haven’t we heard anything about it, and why is it on that particular day? So many questions, so few answers. One thing is for sure, we all want a Dredd show. “Make it so”, Netflix.

Now Geek This On The San Diego Comic-Con

nowgeekthisIn this edition of Now Geek This, I will be discussing some of my favorite things that came out of the biggest geek event of the whole year, this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, aka SDCC.  Of course, I must first state for the record that I was not able to attend this year’s SDCC, in fact, I have never been to an SDCC as of yet, so I am forced to eat up the bread crumbs that are put out online just as most of you are forced to do.  Having said that, I will now discuss the things I caught that excited me the most. WBG Ep 125: Comics On The Brain

WBG with bkg2This week, the We Be Geeks team hit a milestone with their 125th episode. Comics are on the brain, as the team discuss what they like, what they cut, and a comic that surprised them. Lego is looking for more sustainable material to use, which is great for the environment, but the team is left wondering what they can actually use that will be comparable. Speaking of Lego, Lego Dimensions has some surprises up its sleeve, as you can buy each character you want. It may add up to a pretty penny, but it’s so worth it. Spider-man has a new lead, and a new director, and the group weigh in on their choices. Star Wars Rebels aired, but fans are confused if it’s the second season, or just a continuation of the first. Also it’s with sad hearts that Marty is leaving the show. He has been such a great podcaster and friend, but I have a feeling he will be back on to hang out. Brett and Derrick are a nice addition to the show, and will bring their geek knowledge to the table.
